I am committed to helping children, adolescents, adults, and their families navigate mental health challenges. With over two decades of experience, I provide comprehensive, expert medication management combined with compassionate counseling, grounded in evidence-based treatments and research methodology.
I specialize in the evaluation and treatment of ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, childhood behavioral issues, school avoidance, OCD, and autism spectrum disorders, among others. I am deeply committed to understanding each patient’s unique needs and circumstances, creating personalized treatment plans that promote health and long-term well-being. I am particularly passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and their families, as I understand how mental health challenges can impact academic performance, family dynamics, and social relationships. My warm and empathic nature helps put children and their families at ease, strengthen rapport, and open channels for deeper communication and therapeutic connection.
I also incorporate evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Therapy, and Supportive Psychotherapy into my medication management program, empowering patients and their families to build resilience and develop effective coping strategies. I am deeply committed to my Christian faith and strive to help patients and their families draw on their faith during times of crisis and difficulty, for those who find strength in spirituality.
Beyond my clinical practice, I enjoy traveling across the country, meeting people from all walks of life, as well as cooking and baking—activities that reflect my warmth, empathy, and appreciation for community and culture. I have been working with patients in medication management since 1997.
I earned my MD at the University of Ghana in 1994 and completed Psychiatric Residency at North West Anglia Healthcare Trust, UK (1997–2000). I then trained in Adult Psychiatry at University of Cambridge, UK (2000–2002), followed by a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Elmhurst Hospital, NY (2002–2004). I hold Board Certifications in Adult Psychiatry (2005) and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (2009).
I’ve gained extensive experience in medication management and psychiatric assessments in both the U.S. and UK. Before founding Wheaton Behavioral Health, I worked at Covenant Medical Center (Iowa), Summit Clinic (Illinois), and Meier Clinics (Illinois), helping children, adolescents, and adults address a wide range of mental health challenges.
I provide personalized care based on each patient’s unique needs, combining evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and medication management with a holistic view. For patients who desire it, I offer faith-based counseling to support their healing journey and long-term well-being.
I am passionate about supporting children and adolescents, recognizing the profound impact that mental health challenges can have on a young person’s academic, social, and emotional development. I work closely with families to ensure they have the tools, knowledge, and support to navigate these challenges, empowering them to assist their loved ones in the journey toward healing and stability.
As an active member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists (AACAP), I am dedicated to staying informed about the latest developments in mental health. I am also licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois, with Board Certifications in both Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. These certifications reflect my commitment to providing the highest standard of care for my patients.
Outside of my professional practice, I am passionate about connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. I enjoy traveling, learning from different cultures, and engaging with individuals from all walks of life. I also love cooking and baking, which allows me to express my creativity and share joy with others. This deep appreciation for community and culture influences my approach to care, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment for all of my patients.
